What is the IGCSE?

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a subject-based qualification for students aged roughly 14–16, awarded by international exam boards such as Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel. It is the international equivalent of the British GCSE and is accepted as the standard foundation for A-levels, the International Baccalaureate, and university applications worldwide.

Students typically sit 5–9 IGCSE subjects. Grades run from 9 (highest) to 1, or A* to G depending on the board. UK universities generally expect at least five IGCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Mathematics.
